Kyle-Lefebvre joins crowded field in Coquitlam election

Geneviève Kyle-Lefebvre has announced her candidacy for Coquitlam council in the Oct. 17 municipal election.

A Tri-Cities resident for more than 20 years and a Coquitlam resident for the past decade, Kyle-Lefebvre is a nonprofit executive with experience working with residents, community organizations and municipal partners.

“Community has always been at the heart of everything I do,” said Kyle-Lefebvre. “I believe leadership starts with listening. It means being present, building relationships and then taking action. I want to bring that approach to Coquitlam City Council.”

Over the years, Kyle-Lefebvre has served on community boards and committees, held executive leadership positions and helped develop initiatives designed to connect residents, strengthen communities and reduce social isolation.

Through that work, she has had the opportunity to sit down with hundreds of residents and hear directly about the issues affecting their families and neighbourhoods.

“When you listen to people, you learn what is really happening in the community,” said Kyle-Lefebvre. “Residents don’t expect government to solve everything, but they do expect their elected representatives to listen, be accessible and make responsible decisions. I want people to know that when they bring an issue forward, I will listen and work to find practical solutions.”

Kyle-Lefebvre says collaboration will be central to her approach.

“No councillor accomplishes anything alone. Good local government requires working with residents, other members of Council, City staff, community organizations, businesses and other levels of government. I have spent years bringing people together around common goals, and that is the kind of leadership I want to bring to City Hall.”
