Child hurt in hit-and-run; police ask for video

A seven-year-old child was hit by a vehicle in an alley north of Coquitlam Avenue near Wellington Street in Port Coquitlam on June 23, according to a release from Coquitlam RCMP.
The child was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver fled the scene in a vehicle described to police as a 2016 grey Jeep Cherokee.

The hit-and-run occurred at about 3:46 p.m.

Less than an hour later, Coquitlam RCMP found the driver and the vehicle near Pinetree Way and Guildford Way in Coquitlam.
Police are looking for witnesses and video of the collision.
“We are releasing video of the driver and vehicle prior to the collision in the hopes that someone may recognize seeing this vehicle and the driver on Sunday, June 23,” stated Coquitlam RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Alexa Hodgins in a release.
