Coquitlam strata project gets second extension

A six-storey strata project in Coquitlam isn’t quite shovel ready.
In 2024, Coquitlam council approved a 156-unit development spread over six lots on the 500-block of Harrison and Kemsley avenues and a section of Gardena Drive north of Como Lake Avenue near the Burnaby border.
However, with a one-year deadline set to expire and certain conditions not met, city staff authorized a one-year extension in 2025.

The project was back in council Monday with developer Quantum Properties asking for another extension to meet: “servicing and legal requirements.”
Council voted to grant the one-year extension.
Coun. Robert Mazzarolo opposed the extension, noting that he originally voted against the project due to what he viewed as an excessive amount of smaller units.
The project includes 93 studio and one-bedroom units, including 19 with a den. The rest of the project consists of 46 two-bedroom units and 17 three-bedroom units.
